Why I Started Writing These Articles
Over time, I realised there were certain conversations I kept returning to.
Men struggling silently while appearing “fine.”
Trainee counsellors wondering whether they really belonged in the profession.
People carrying grief they could not easily explain.
Therapists quietly doubting themselves while trying to support everybody else.
Somewhere along the way, I noticed these reflections did not always fit neatly inside a counselling session, a LinkedIn post, or a short conversation over coffee after supervision. They needed a little more space.
So this section slowly began to take shape.
Not as a collection of perfect answers or polished expertise, but as a place to think honestly about therapy, emotional life, grief, masculinity, neurodiversity, private practice, and the quieter realities people often carry underneath the surface.
Some articles are written for clients.
Some are written for trainee counsellors or therapists.
Some are simply reflections on moments, conversations, or experiences that felt worth exploring further.
A lot of modern online writing feels fast, performative, or designed to sell certainty. I wanted this space to feel different.
Slower.
More human.
More honest about the fact that most people are still figuring things out as they go.
If you find something here that makes you feel understood, reassured, challenged, or simply a little less alone, then perhaps the writing has done what it was meant to do.
And if this section continues to evolve over time, I think that is probably a good thing too.
Contributions & Conversations
Over time, I would also be happy to consider thoughtful guest reflections, conversations, or submissions from other counsellors, trainees, writers, or professionals whose work connects with the themes explored here.
Particular areas of interest include:
men’s mental health,
grief and bereavement,
neurodiversity,
counselling training,
emotional wellbeing,
identity and belonging,
and the realities of therapy work behind the scenes.
The aim is not polished perfection or “expert” answers, but honest, grounded reflections that help people feel more connected and less alone.
If that sounds like something you may wish to contribute to in the future, feel free to get in touch.
