Online Counselling Across the UK
Secure online counselling for men, fathers, grief, neurodivergence and life's difficult transitions.
Sometimes the hardest part isn't deciding to ask for help.
It's working out how therapy will fit into your life.
You might work long hours, care for children or ageing parents, travel regularly, or live somewhere without easy access to the kind of support you're looking for. You may simply feel more comfortable talking from the familiarity of your own home.
Online counselling removes many of those practical barriers without changing what matters most.
Although I'm based in Manchester, I provide secure online counselling to adults across the UK. Whether you're in London, Leeds, Inverness, Cardiff, Belfast or a small village miles from the nearest therapist, online therapy allows us to work together wherever you are.
The conversation is still the conversation.
The relationship is still the relationship.
The work is still the work.
Does Online Counselling Really Work?
It's one of the questions people ask most often.
The short answer is yes.
Research has consistently shown that online counselling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy for many people and many emotional difficulties.
What makes therapy effective isn't the room.
It's feeling safe enough to speak honestly.
Feeling understood.
Having someone alongside you who listens carefully, notices what sits beneath the words, and helps you make sense of what you're carrying.
Those things aren't limited by geography.
Many people tell me that after the first few minutes they stop thinking about the screen altogether.
Why People Choose Online Counselling
Every person's reason is different.
Some people travel frequently for work.
Some are balancing demanding jobs with family life.
Some live in rural areas where specialist counselling simply isn't available.
Others experience anxiety, chronic illness or mobility difficulties that make travelling more challenging.
For many, online counselling simply offers greater flexibility without compromising the quality of the therapeutic relationship.
Rather than spending time travelling, sitting in traffic or rushing across the city after work, you can begin your session from somewhere familiar, comfortable and private.
Who I Work With
I'm Stuart Walker, an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist based in Manchester.
Alongside private practice, I have extensive experience supporting people bereaved by suicide through the AMPARO service and continue to write and speak about men's mental health, fatherhood, grief and neurodivergence.
Although everyone brings their own unique experiences, much of my work focuses on supporting:
Men experiencing stress, anxiety, burnout or emotional overwhelm.
Fathers navigating separation, parenting, changing family life and identity.
People living with grief and bereavement, including bereavement by suicide.
Neurodivergent adults, including ADHD, autism and AuDHD.
People facing significant life transitions who simply feel stuck.
Whether we meet online or in person, my aim remains exactly the same.
To create a calm, thoughtful space where you don't have to pretend everything is okay.
A place where difficult conversations can happen at your own pace.
What Happens During an Online Session?
Sessions last around 50 minutes and take place using a secure video platform.
Before we meet, I'll send you a simple link together with clear joining instructions.
All you need is:
a quiet private space
a reliable internet connection
a laptop, tablet or smartphone
You don't need to prepare a speech.
You don't need to know exactly what you want to say.
Many people begin with,
"I'm not really sure where to start."
That's perfectly normal.
We'll simply begin where you are.
Is Online Counselling Right For You?
For many people, yes.
For others, meeting face to face feels more comfortable.
Neither is better.
The important thing is finding the approach that feels right for you.
That's one reason I offer a free introductory conversation before we begin working together.
It gives us an opportunity to talk about what's bringing you to counselling, answer any questions you may have, and decide whether online counselling feels like the right fit.
There's no pressure.
Just a conversation.
