Online Counselling for Men Across the UK

Looking for a male therapist online?

If you've been searching for a male therapist, male counsellor or male psychotherapist offering online counselling, you're not alone. Many men specifically look for another man to talk to about fatherhood, grief, relationships, work pressures or simply feeling overwhelmed.

Sometimes it isn't counselling that's difficult.

It's finding someone you feel comfortable talking to.

For some men, whether their therapist is male or female doesn't matter. For others, it matters a great deal.

You may be looking for someone who understands the pressures of work, fatherhood, relationships, grief or simply the expectation that you're supposed to cope.

You may have spent years saying, "I'm fine."

Or perhaps you've reached a point where carrying everything on your own has become exhausting.

Whatever has brought you here, choosing a male therapist isn't about believing men understand everything better. It's about finding someone you feel able to talk to openly.

From my practice in Manchester, I provide secure online counselling for men throughout the UK.

Why Do Some Men Prefer a Male Therapist?

Every man is different.

Many men work very successfully with female therapists. Others specifically look for a male therapist because they feel it may be easier to talk about certain experiences without worrying about being misunderstood.

Sometimes that's because of:

  • fatherhood and parenting

  • relationship difficulties

  • grief and loss

  • stress and burnout

  • anger or emotional overwhelm

  • identity and self-worth

  • growing up with messages about "being a man"

There isn't a right or wrong choice.

The most important thing is finding a therapist you feel comfortable speaking honestly with.

Therapy That Fits Around Your Life

Online counselling removes many of the practical barriers that stop men asking for help.

There is no travelling across town after work.

No sitting in waiting rooms.

No trying to fit appointments around work, children or family commitments.

Whether you're at home, travelling for work or living somewhere without easy access to specialist support, online counselling allows us to meet wherever you are in the UK.

Many men tell me that after the first few minutes they stop noticing they're speaking through a screen.

The conversation simply becomes a conversation.

The Men I Work With

Although every client brings their own story, much of my work centres around four areas.

Men's Mental Health

Many of the men I work with describe feeling overwhelmed, burnt out or stuck long before they ever describe themselves as anxious or depressed.

Together we explore what's happening beneath the surface and work towards greater clarity and emotional wellbeing.

Men's Counselling

Fathers

Becoming a father changes far more than your responsibilities.

It can change your identity, relationships, confidence and sense of who you are.

Whether you're adjusting to becoming a dad, navigating separation or trying to balance everything life demands, counselling can provide a space that's entirely yours.

Grief & Bereavement

Many men have been taught to keep going after loss.

But grief doesn't disappear simply because we stay busy.

I have extensive experience supporting people bereaved by suicide alongside working with many other forms of grief and significant life loss.

Neurodivergence

Many of the men I work with are autistic, ADHD or identify as AuDHD.

Some already have a diagnosis.

Others are only beginning to wonder whether lifelong experiences might make more sense through a neurodivergent lens.

My approach is neurodiversity-affirming and centred on understanding rather than trying to change who you are.

Does Online Counselling Really Work?

Research consistently shows that online counselling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy for many people.

What matters most isn't whether we're in the same room.

It's the quality of the therapeutic relationship.

Feeling safe.

Feeling heard.

Feeling able to speak honestly without judgement.

Those things happen through the relationship we build together, not simply because of where we're sitting.

What Happens During the First Session?

The first session isn't a test.

You don't need to prepare your life story or know exactly what you want to say.

Many men begin by saying,

"I'm not really sure why I'm here."

That's perfectly okay.

We'll simply begin where you are.

Together we'll explore what's been happening, what feels important, and what you hope might be different.
